Abarth on track with new 595 Yamaha special edition
New special edition Abarth 595 hot hatch celebrates sponsorship of MotoGP bike race
A special edition version of the Abarth 595 has been launched to celebrate the brand becoming an official sponsor and car supplier of the MotoGP championship. Developed in partnership with Yamaha, the dinky hot hatch gets some new design features and performance enhancements.
The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition is available to order now from £17,420, and gets 17-inch matt black alloy wheels, painted brake callipers, darkened windows and Yamaha badging to mark it out from the rest of the range.
As if the standard 595 Abarth wasn’t racy enough, the Yamaha edition gets lowered suspension, a Record Monza exhaust system and Koni shock absorbers. Inside there's a flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminium pedals and more Yamaha badging.
Power comes from an uprated version of the 500 Abarth’s 1.4-litre T-jet petrol engine, which develops 158bhp (up from 138bhp), propelling the car from 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds. The Abarth returns 47.1mpg and has CO2 emissions of 139g/km.
There is a long options list available, including stripes and matching mirror covers, Xenon headlights, leather seats and dual-zone climate control.
