Paris Motor Show debut for facelifted Audi A6

Audi has freshened up its popular A6 executive saloon with a mid-life facelift

The revised Audi A6 has been revealed at the Paris Motor Show, with saloon and Allroad models on display.

The mid-life refresh features tweaks to the exterior, engine line-up, transmissions and infotainment system. The updates apply across Audi's executive line-up, in saloon and Avant estate bodystyles, as well as to the A6 Allroad, S6 and RS6 models.

Included in the changes to the exterior are a redesigned Audi signature single-frame grille, new headlights, tweaked bumpers (front and rear), new exhaust tailpipes and updated rear lights. Audi's latest LED and Matrix LED technology will be available on the options list to spruce up the headlights, which are now combined with dynamic indicators.

The key change on the inside is the introduction of an updated infotainment system. The navigation system with retractable eight-inch monitor is now based on new technology from Audi's partner Nvidia. Through this, online services including media streaming apps can be used. New colours for the interior are available, too: Flint Grey for standard A6 models and Salsa Red for the S6.

Audi is making a range of driver assistance systems available on the updated A6, including adaptive cruise control with a stop and go function. There's also Audi side assist, active lane assist and night vision assistant with added functions, while the Audi Pre Sense basic safety system is now standard across the range. An optional head-up display is available to display this important information on.

The diesel-only engine range on standard models, which consists of four and six-cylinder single-turbo TDI diesels and a V6 BiTDI, will look familiar to owners of the current A6, but most of these engines will benefit from power increases and efficiency improvements. Audi will no longer offer the hybrid in the UK, and the A6 Allroad will continue to feature the current crop of V6 TDIs. The S6, S6 Avant and RS6 still use V8 petrol engines with Cylinder-on-Demand technology.

Prices are expected to remain at current levels, so the A6 saloon will start from just under £31,000, with the A6 Avant carry a premium of around £2,000. Deliveries will begin late in 2014.
