Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Performance editions unveiled with 597bhp
Audi's RS6 mega-estate and hot RS7 four-door coupe get power boosted Performance editions, starting at £86,000
Good news for those who thought Audi's flagship RS cars just weren't fast enough; the firm has announced more powerful 'Performance' editions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Both models get a 45bhp power boost, up from 552bhp to 597bhp.
Tweaks to the 4.0-litre twin turbo V8's engine mean the cars also get an extra 50Nm of torque on overboost, rounding out at an astonishing 750Nm. That means a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds, two-tenths better than the standard car and as fast as a Ferrari FF. It also does 0-124mph in just 12 seconds.
Top speed stays at the limited 155mph, unless you spec the Dynamic package which raises it to 174mph on the RS 6 and 189mph on the RS 7. Despite the performance boost fuel economy is unchanged, with the RS 6 managing 29.4mpg and the RS 7 29.7mpg. CO2 emissions are 223g/km and 221g/km respectively.
Subtle styling changes for the Performance edition include titanium exterior detailing, 21-inch wheels and a new blue paint finish option. The interior also gets upgraded sports seats plus carbon and alcantara detailing.
The new RS 6 and RS 7 performance models will hit showrooms from next month, priced from £86,000 and £91,600 respectively.
