Bentley Bentayga Hybrid range gains S and Azure models

The latest batch of Bentayga Hybrids come with even more power and pure-EV range

Hybridisation now features in half of Bentley’s models, thanks to the introduction of the Bentayga S Hybrid and Azure Hybrid. Bentley says the Azure model focuses on comfort, where the S is more aligned with delivering an engaging drive.

Available to order now, both the S Hybrid and Azure Hybrid models use a turbocharged 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine combined with a 18kW battery found in the regular Bentayga Hybrid. Bentley has unlocked some more power so now there’s 456bhp on offer and claims the S Hybrid will accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds then go onto a top speed of 158mph. Both models offer a maximum pure-electric range of 27 miles.

The S Hybrid also features a few bespoke touches to distinguish it from the Azure Hybrid as a more driver-focused car. It gains a Sport mode which enhances the sound coming from the engine bay and stiffens the dampers by 15 per cent. The S also receives a sports exhaust system and revised ECU tune. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Bentley has also tweaked the exterior of the S Hybrid model to relay the car’s performance-orientated nature. Here we see the use of the Blackline specification, which replaces the exterior chrome with gloss black trim pieces. There’s also dark-tinted headlights, a bumper design reflecting that of the Speed model, red brake calipers and a larger spoiler also taken from the Bentayga Speed. As on Bentayga V8 S, we can see the interior uses ‘performance’ dials like the ones found in the Speed model, plus ‘S’ emblems in the headrests and the dash.

Moving on to the Azure Hybrid, Bentley says this version “provides an oasis of calm and serenity”. On the outside, it uses chrome lower bumper grilles, Azure badging and 22-inch wheels. Inside, the Azure offers up a different type of upholstery quilting – which the luxury car maker calls “wellness quilting”, plus Azure insignias on the dash and 22-way adjustable and heated front seats.
