This year’s RAC Future Car Challenge will take place on 3 November, and Auto Express will be supporting it all the way as a major partner of the event.
We’ll be taking part in the 63-mile drive and will be at the free Regent Street Motor Show in London, where the finish line for the Future Car Challenge will also be situated.
This year features a revised route between Brighton and London aimed at better replicating real-world driving, while the entry categories have been expanded to include everything from small cars to SUVs.
It’s not only electric and hybrid vehicles being allowed to enter. Petrol or diesel cars with CO2 emissions of below 110g/km will also compete, with their energy efficiency measured by experts from Imperial College London.
So far Jaguar, Toyota, Renault, Nissan and Morgan are among the car makers lined up to take part, with many more expected to swell the ranks of competitors in the next few weeks.
All competing cars, plus a wide selection of other models, will be on display at an extended Regent Street Motor Show on the same day. Test drives will be available of some of the models, while the Awards presentation will be one of the features on the main stage.
The Regent Street Show is where the future and past will meet, as pre-1905 cars due to participate in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run the following day will also be on display.
The combination of the Future Car Challenge, Regent Street Motor Show and Veteran Car Run make for the UK’s biggest free-to-spectate motoring event.
