Ford Fiesta crowned Carbuyer Car of the Year
The latest Ford Fiesta hatchback impressed Carbuyer with its style, comfort and driving experience.
Auto Express’ sister site Carbuyer has crowned the Ford Fiesta as its Car of the Year. At the Carbuyer Best Cars 2017 Awards ceremony held this morning in the West End of London, the latest Fiesta hatchback also took home the Carbuyer Best Small Car award.
The Fiesta won Carbuyer over with its combination of style, comfort, space and driving experience, making it a great all-round hatchback. The rigorous judging process took into account the factors that are key for new-car buyers today, such as running costs, practicality and reliability, with the Fiesta ticking all these boxes.
Carbuyer editor Stuart Milne said: “[The Fiesta] is Britain’s favourite car year-in, year-out, and deserves to be number one. It looks great inside and out and packs plenty of big-car features into its compact dimensions. Buyers can choose from tremendous stereo upgrades, autonomous driving features and, in top-spec Vignale trim, levels of luxury that were unthinkable in a small car until a few years ago.”
Awards were handed out in 23 different categories at the Carbuyer Best Cars 2017 awards ceremony. Skoda was a big winner, taking home four awards in the ‘best family car’, ‘best first car’, ‘best estate car’ and ‘best city car’ segments. The Citigo took highest honours in the first car and city car awards while the family car and estate car was awarded to the Octavia and Superb Estate respectively. Skoda’s sister company Volkswagen took best electric car honours with the e-Golf.
Groupe PSA also took some big victories, particularly in the SUV awards. The Peugeot 3008 was judged to be the best family SUV while the Citroen C3 Aircross won best small SUV. Citroen also took honours in the best seven-seater category with its Grand C4 Picasso.
