VW Beetle Cabriolet revealed as scale model

The new Beetle Cabriolet has been leaked as a 1:43 scale model

The new Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet has been revealed in scale model form, ahead of its public unveiling at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.

The 1:43 scale model is made by Schuco Modell and comes in blue, black or white. It reveals plenty of retro-inspired touches from the alloy wheels to the roof folded on to the rear deck.

The Cabriolet will be available with the same engine line-up as the hatch, which starts with the 1.2-litre TSI engine with 104bhp and features a 158bhp 1.4-litre TSI. A more potent 197bhp 2.0-litre turbo will power the performance flagship and the sole diesel offering will be a 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI.

After its public unveiling in November, the new Beetle Cabriolet will go on sale early next year for around £18,000.
