LA Motor Show 2015: news round-up

The big new car debuts, concepts and all the news from the world-famous Los Angeles Motor Show

New Mercedes SL Roadster 2015 LA Show 2

The Los Angeles Motor Show is always the last internationally recognised car show in the calendar, and we have all of the reveals, unveilings and news from the 2015 show in one place.

The LA show opened up to press and public on the 17th of November, and is considered one of the most important US new car events. Key cars at this year's LA Motor Show included the Range Rover Evoque Convertible & Fiat's version of the Mazda MX-5 - the 124 Spider. We also had a few surprises in the shape of the rear-wheel drive Huracan and the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Below are the biggest reveals of the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show!

LA Motor Show 2015: new cars A-to-Z

Cadillac XT5

Cadillac XT5 front

The Cadillac XT5 replaces the SRX in the firm's range, and targets cars such as the Mercedes GLCBMW X3 and Lexus NX. It will be built in both the US and China initially, and will also be available to buy in the Middle East. There are plans for the brand to return to the UK in force too.

Fiat 124 Spider

Fiat's 124 Spider was officially unveiled at the Motor Show, and while it's based on the Mazda MX-5, there are a few key differences. Besides the obvious styling changes, the 124 Spider will use a turbocharged 1.4-litre Fiat engine.

Honda Civic Coupe

Honda Civic Coupe revealed - front

We won't be seeing the Honda Civic Coupe in the UK but the car made its debut at the LA Show. It takes inspiration from the Honda Civic concept car revealed earlier this year in New York. It will be built at Honda's Swindon plant, and we're expecting the hatchback and tourer models - which are coming to the UK - to look pretty similar.

Infiniti QX30

Infiniti QX30 SUV LA Show front quarter

We've just driven the standard Q30 hatch, but Infiniti unveiled a jacked-up crossover sibling known as the QX30. It made the transition from the concept we saw at the Geneva Motor Show into a production-ready model relatively unscathed. Expect it to compete with the Mercedes GLA on which it's based.

Lamborghini

Lamborghini took the wraps off its rear-wheel drive Huracan supercar. Without the heavy all-wheel-drive system in place, it's lighter, and should increase driver involvement with very little penalty on speed.

Mercedes GLS and SL facelift

New Mercedes SL Roadster 2015 LA Show 2

Mercedes debuted the facelifted version of its SL roadster at the show. The mid-life refresh brings a few aesthetic tweaks plus power upgrades for some of the engines. It will be available to order in April 2016.

Mercedes GLS SUV LA Show reveal

Mercedes' largest SUV, the GL-Class has become the new GLS  - in order to fit with Mercedes' latest naming system. It will compete with the Audi Q7 and despite a similar look to the previous car, subtle changes inside and out bring it bang up-to-date.

Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport

Cayman GT4 Clubsport

Porsche revealed a hardcore version of the Cayman GT4 at LA this year. It's strictly a track-only car for race homologation developed by Porsche Motorsport, but it  brings along a dual-clutch gearbox for the first time.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Range Rover Evoque Convertible

We've known about it for some time and seen a number of spyshots, but Land Rover has launched its new Evoque Convertible at the 2015 LA show. Adding a folding fabric soft top to the mix, the roofless SUV is set to go on sale in spring next year.

Volkswagen

VW Beetle Dune 2015 front

Volkswagen has bought the rugged Beetle Dune to the show - we drove the concept last year. Set to arrive in the US in early 2016, the car is more a lifestyle crossover than a true sand buggy, but it does have chunky looks and jacked-up suspension. It's confirmed to be coming to the US but there's no word yet on whether it will make its way to the UK.
