New Hyundai i30 Tourer: UK prices and specs revealed
Fresh i30 Tourer estate will go on sale early next month, with an expansive range from launch
Hyundai has revealed UK prices and specs for the new i30 Tourer, confirming that the new compact estate will start from £17,495 when it goes on sale early next month.
The estate version of the i30 is 245mm longer than the hatchback, but it shares the same wheelbase, so all the extra length is given over to the boot. It gets Hyundai’s latest front grille and a tapering roofline, while full LED headlights and LED daytime running lights add some flair to the design.
The larger rear overhang creates a 602-litre boot in five-seat mode, and 1,650 litres with them folded down. Both of these capacities are behind the class-leading Peugeot 308 SW, though, which offers 660 litres and 1,775 litres respectively.
In terms of engines, Hyundai has confirmed three options – two petrols and a diesel, all three of which are turbocharged. The entry-level petrol powerplant is the firm's 1.0 T-GDi three-cylinder turbo producing 118bhp, which sits below a larger 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo with 138bhp. Diesel customers are offered a 1.6 CRDi unit good for 109bhp.
Cabin technology is carried over from the new hatchback, and the i30 Tourer is available with a five-inch or eight-inch floating infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Hyundai LIVE services are offered with the eight-inch screen, while the smaller five-inch package comes with a rear-view camera and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
Hyundai has pitched safety assists as a major part of the package too. Autonomous emergency braking, high-beam assist, lane keep assist and a driver attention alert function make the cut.
For that £17,495 starting price buyers will get the basic ‘S’ model, boasting a 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with 118bhp, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. 15-inch alloy wheels come as standard alongside equipment such as DAB and Bluetooth, USB and aux connectors, plus a multifunction steering wheel.
Sitting above it in the range will be a £19,355 SE model, building on the level of standard equipment and benefiting from a wider choice of powertrains and transmissions. Key additions include larger 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, and a 5-inch LCD touchscreen linked to a rear parking camera and assist setup. A 1.6-litre diesel four-cylinder is available with this spec, with either 108bhp or 134bhp – the latter fitted with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The £20,305 SE Nav model gets an 8-inch infotainment screen complete with sat nav, voice recognition and wireless phone charging. A 1.4-litre petrol with 138bhp is available on top of the other engines, with either a manual or dual clutch automatic.
Premium and Premium SE models top the range, priced from £22,885 and £24,155 respectively. Premium adds 17-inch wheels, dual zone climate control, heated front seats, a 4.2-inch display in the instrument cluster, and additional driver assists. Highlights on the SE model include a panoramic sunroof, real leather seat facings and a heated steering wheel.
