New Lexus LC Black Inspiration special edition unveiled

The Lexus LC’s new specification adds a few styling tweaks, some extra equipment and a couple of performance add-ons

Lexus has launched a new Black Inspiration model into the LC coupe’s line-up. The new specification will be available to order from November this year, although prices are yet to be confirmed.

The LC Black Inspiration comes with tonnes of extra equipment, but we’ll start with the cosmetics. Unsurprisingly, it’s finished in Lexus’s Graphite Black paint, while the radiator grille, door mirrors and headlight surrounds have all been swapped for black replacements.

There’s also a set of 21-inch five-spoke forged alloy wheels and a new fixed spoiler for the bootlid. Lexus has thrown in some of the add-ons from its Sport Plus Pack as well, including the carbon fibre roof and scuff plates.

Inside, buyers get 10-way adjustable sports seats, semi-aniline leather upholstery, a head-up display, a card key and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system.

This special LC isn’t all show and no go, however, as Lexus has fitted the LC Black Inspiration with a Torsen limited-slip differential, dynamic rear-wheel steering and a variable ratio steering rack, which automatically adjusts the steering ratio depending on the car’s speed.

There’s some extra convenience and safety equipment, too, such as a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, keyless entry, a blind-spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert. Adaptive dampers also come as standard.

Lexus will offer both of the standard LC’s powertrains on the Black Inspiration model. That means there’s a choice of either a 354bhp 3.5-litre V6 hybrid attached to a CVT gearbox or a 471bhp 5.0-litre V8 mated to a traditional automatic transmission. The hybrid can shove the coupe from 0–62mph in five seconds flat, while the V8 will cover the same sprint in 4.7 seconds.
