Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507 revealed

The new 500bhp Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507 has debuted at Geneva

This is the Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507, an uprated version of the standard C63 that has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

While most of Mercedes’ AMG models have switched to the firm’s 5.5-litre twin turbo V8, the C63 AMG Coupe, saloon and estate and the SLS supercar still use the older naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V8.

And now, the C63 Edition 507 models can be had with an uprated version of the 6.3-litre engine that uses the lightweight forged pistons, crankshaft and con rods that are fitted to the SLS.

This means that power is up from 451bhp to 500bhp – or 507 metric horsepower, hence the special model’s name – regardless of whether you opt for the C63 Coupe, saloon or estate. Torque is also up 10Nm, to 610Nm.

In the former two models, this means the 0-62mph sprint time falls from 4.5 seconds to 4.2, while the estate model now covers 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds instead of 4.6. The top speed limiter for all Edition 507 models is set at 174mph.

Despite the power upgrade, the Edition 507 cars have the same emissions figures as the regular AMG models. The saloon and coupe have claimed averages of 23.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 280g/km, while the estate returns figures of 21.3mpg and 285g/km.

All Edition 507 models feature composite brakes as standard, covered by 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels, and have the same bonnet with extra air vents used on the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series.

Saloon and Coupe models feature a gloss black boot spoiler, and all models also have gloss black trim on the door mirror caps and grille, and special darker finishes to the headlights. Matt grey paint is an option.

Inside, there are three different interior trim combinations to choose from, and all include Alcantara trim on the seats, doors and steering wheel; contrasting stitching and an AMG badge on the top of the gear selector. Edition 507 badges also feature.

AMG also offers a number of extra options to choose from, including a locking rear differential, upgraded suspension, and carbon fibre interior trim.

UK prices and specs are yet to be confirmed, but all cars will be sold with a voucher to attend a driver training session at the AMG Driving Academy.
