MINI Vision Gran Turismo concept teases next Clubman
MINI unveils virtual Gran Turismo 6 racing concept car that hints at 2015 production Clubman
MINI has revealed a new concept car called the Clubman Vision Gran Turismo. Bound only for the virtual world on Playstation's Gran Turismo 6, the concept also drops a few hints at what we can expect from the next generation Clubman.
Available as part of a free update on the racing simulator game, the Clubman GT6 concept previews a radical racing version of the small estate, with only two doors lending it more of a 'shooting brake' appearance. The digitally-imagined racer is also previewed in an impressively realistic press video.
The muscular body carries the trademark MINI family face, although the dual vented hood and carbon fibre additions are unlikely to see production on the next Clubman, expected in September 2015. The roofline is lower than the production model, and while the barn door rear remains it has been outstaged by a dramatic rear wing and aggressive bumper with a diffuser.
Sitting on oversized 22-inch wheels and packing 395bhp, the concept also ultilizes all-wheel drive and a sequential gearbox, helping it get from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds. But the overall design and shape isn't too far removed from the five-door Clubman concept we saw in Geneva 2014.
We've also spied the near-production model out testing earlier this year, which takes a more conventional form and has increased in size to make it a rival to cars such as the VW Golf. It ditches the single rear door for the traditional layout, although it keeps the barn door boot.
