Vauxhall Insignia facelift

The Vauxhall Insignia gets revised engines and a nip and tuck for a mid-life facelift

A facelifted Vauxhall Insignia has been spotted testing. The masked Insignia in these images shows the current car – which was introduced in 2008 – with a taped up nose disguising the revisions.

There’s a new nose treatment, likely with a new grille and revised headlamps. A similar facelift will take place at the rear, with tail-lights and surrounding fascia tweaked to sharpen up the Insignia’s look.

Currently, the smallest diesel in the Insignia – the 128bhp 2.0 CDTi – trails the cleanest VW Passat and Ford Mondeo on fuel economy and emissions, so it’s likely to be joined by a 108bhp version of the 1.7-litre CDTi with stop-start, to attract more tax-conscious fleet buyers.

Inside, there will be more kit than at present, while the rear seats and boot will provide the same generous amount of space as the current car.

The facelifted Vauxhall Insignia goes on sale in 2013.
