Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport gets track-focused extras
Lighter & faster Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport debuts at the LA Motor Show with racing upgrades
Porsche has introduced a new variant of the Cayman GT4 at the LA Motor Show called the Clubsport. A lighter, faster and track-focused version of the GT4, the Clubsport is available to order now, priced from around £94,000.
Intended for recreational and club racing, for the true enthusiast the Clubsport uses the standard car's 3.8-litre flat-six remains, tuned to 385bhp, which is a slight boost over the 380bhp on the regular GT4.
Around 40kg has been cut from the weight of the GT4, and it looks like the 1,300kg Clubsport will provide blistering performance. The standard car can dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.4 seconds and this lighter model should be even faster. The manual gearbox in the GT4 makes way for a six-speed double-clutch transmission with paddle shifters.
Underneath, the suspension is adapted with components from the 911 GT3 Cup racer, with sophisticated twelve-stage ABS, and a stability programme specially expanded for racing slicks.
The Cayman GT4 Clubsport comes race-ready with a roll-cage, bucket seat with harness and a 90-litre fuel tank. For 2016, Porsche plans to adapt it to compete in race series such as the VLN Long Distance Championship Nurburgring, and club races run by the Porsche Club of America.
