Fast Renaults and classic Alpines celebrated at Goodwood
Fledgling 'Origine R.S.' meet sees Renaultsport models and historic Alpine racers at Goodwood Motor Circuit on August 22nd
Goodwood is famous around the world for showcasing some of the most exotic supercars and classics throughout the year. It's not often that Renault's efforts take centre stage, but that's about to change.
The weekend of August 22nd sees the second annual meet of 'Origine R.S', a new event that will see hundreds of fast French classics and sporting models descend on the West Sussex circuit. Everything from the Monte Carlo Rally-winning Alpine A110 to the latest Renaultsport Megane 275 Trophy R is invited to attend.
Renault's historic presence in motorsport is longer and more illustrious than many high-profile names. The firm won one of the first Grand Prix races at Le Mans back in 1906, and its Alpine divison took countless titles including the first ever World Rally Championship (WRC) back in 1973.

This year's celebrations will focus on the scorching Clio V6, however, with event organiser Shaun Williams bringing along his Lunar Grey 255 example (one of only four RHD models built). The organisers are setting out to prove that car meets can be more than just taking over a motorway service station car park.
Shaun has organised small-scale Renault events for years, but this year will be a "larger scale, high quality event for all owners that have a passion for Renault's sporting history". Over 150 classics will be in attendance, and owners wanting to attend can get tickets online.
