Toyota RAV4 gets hybrid power across the range

Toyota will offer hybrid electric petrol engines across all trim levels for its 2018 crossover

Toyota Rav 4

Toyota’s RAV4 is getting a boost with more hybrid models and additional trim levels across the range.

The Japanese manufacturer is pushing its hybrid ethos by offering such a powertrain on every RAV4 variant. Six options are now available starting at £29,005 for entry-level cars. Hybrid powertrains currently account for 65.3 per cent of all RAV4 sales with that number likely to rise with wider introduction of the 2.5-litre hybrid petrol engine now available on all trim levels.

The range kicks off with the 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine in Icon trim starting at £27,450. That model comes with Toyota’s Touch 2 multimedia system with seven-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, Toyota Safety Sense and Smart Entry. The Icon Tech trim is an extra £540 extra (£27,990) and comes with additional navigation and connectivity functions.

The RAV4 Design is the next step up and is available in four-wheel-drive. It sits on 18-inch black alloy wheels and matching black door mirrors. LED headlights and black leather interior are also included for £30,160.

Topping the range is the Excel model with four different variants beginning at £31,405. The customer has a choice of black, beige or grey leather interior and additional multimedia functions, such as voice recognition and 3D maps.

Option packs on the 2018 RAV4 include the Visibility Pack for the Design trim. The Visibility Pack equips the car with a Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Panoramic View Monitor, the latter being a new feature for the RAV4 that is supposed to make parking and manoeuvring easier. The Excel trim comes with the optional Assist Pack providing a ‘kick-activated’ tailgate and the panoramic view monitor.
