Astra Cabriolet spied

Our spies have spotted the new Vauxhall Astra Cabriolet with its roof down for the first time

The Vauxhall Astra Cabriolet, which is scheduled to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, has been spotted with its roof down for the first time.

These new pictures show the fabric soft-top neatly tucked away behind the rear passenger seat.

The Cabriolet will feature styling inspired by the sporty, three-door Astra GTC, with sharp edges and an aggressive body kit.

The same engines will also power the Cabrio as the rest of the Astra range. This means a choice of 1.4-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines, with a 1.7-litre and 2.0-litre diesel in the line-up as well.

Vauxhall is still to confirm whether the car will be called an Astra Cabriolet, with the return of the Calibra nameplate suggested as a possible alternative.

The Astra Cabriolet will go on sale in early 2013, with prices expected to start from around £23,000.
