The 6.0-litre V8 is so flexible, its power band starts at tickover and reaches right round to the 6,500rpm cut-out. Only in sixth (geared to pull only 1,800rpm at 70mph) does the 550Nm unit feel like it’s having to work hard.
Softer than the Jag’s and more supportive than the Chrysler’s, the VXR8’s seats are the most comfortable. However, with no real structure to the side bolsters, the padding flexes too much to lock you in place.

Even though the Vauxhall can’t match the ultimate driver appeal of a Mitsubishi Evo, when it comes to comfort, the car is very relaxing, good-natured and supple, too.
