Claying removes contaminants from your bodywork to leave a super-smooth surface, and Farécla has launched a new kit as part of its G3 Professional range.
There’s a bar, case and holder. We used the clay with Farecla’s G3 Professional Turbo Detailer on our test car. Then we assessed smoothness, as we usually do on our tests, by running a finger wrapped in a sandwich bag over the surface.
The unclayed panel felt rough compared to the treated section, and when we flipped the bar over, we saw it had removed loads of grime.
The case prevents the bar from drying out, but the holder absorbed some of the lube, so we had to use more to keep the bar gliding smoothly.
It was fine on flat surfaces, but we struggled to maintain even pressure on our car’s curved panels. You’re better off using the bar on its own.
The kit is cheaper than rivals, at £15, but you only get a 100g bar. Add £9 for the detailer, plus the fact you have to shell out more on a cloth, and this isn’t good value.
Verdict
Rating: ★★★
What is it?
Clay bar kit that lifts grime, but lube and cloth cost extra.
What's good?
Lube and bar work well together, removing lots of contaminants. Plus, the storage case should help the bar last.
What's bad?
Sponge holder hinders rather than helps; clay kit and detailer already come to £24 before you add extra cost of a cloth.
