Nexxus drivesleekPRO hands-free kit

Super-slim hands-free mounts neatly on your sun visor, but sound quality is very poor

Nexxus drivesleekPRO

The new Nexxus drivesleekPRO is one of the thinnest visor-mounted hands-free kits on sale – and has a slimmed-down price to match.

It weighs in at only £30, and at 8mm thick, 10cm long and 4.5cm wide, it’s barely noticeable when in place. The clip holds the Nexxus securely on your visor, but the 1.75-metre USB charging cable (which comes with an adaptor) isn’t long enough – our test car’s 12V socket was mounted below the stereo. This meant the lead was stretched dangerously close to our indicator stalk.

Unlike a factory-fitted hands-free kit in your car, you can pair two phones at the same time – ideal for drivers who have different mobiles for business and personal use. When a call comes in, you simply press the multifunction button on the Nexxus to accept; hit the same key again to end the call.

Sound quality is poor, though. The speaker delivers tinny audio, and distorts if it’s too loud. Plus, our caller said our voice was filled with static. A shame, because it’s a good-looking unit, and could challenge rivals costing around three times as much.

Verdict

Rating: ★★
What is it?
Super slim hands-free kit that can transmit your calls legally in the car.
Problems?
Tinny speaker, some static noise, short charge lead.
Why buy?
Price, easy to use, manual volume switch, connects two phones at the same time.
