Make sure your calls never break down with the latest in-car accessory from the RAC. We’ve tried the new SP300 speakerphone.
The Bluetooth hands-free kit sticks to your car’s windscreen with the two suckers supplied, or you can use a clip to mount it on your sun visor. We did the former, which meant we could use the solar charger; a panel on the back of the unit takes power from sunlight.
There’s also a 12V cable, although the SP300 offers excellent battery life, with 14 hours’ talk time and up to 52 days in standby mode.
It’s all well designed – the black case is sleek, with a multifunction button for answering and ending calls. When you’re connected, a classy ring of light around this illuminates blue.
Trouble is, pairing isn’t easy, and when connected, sound quality was an issue. Our caller told us we seemed distant, although we could hear him fine.
The audio was average: short on bass, but acceptable for an in-car kit. Our main concern is the £50 price – it’s simply too high
