The radar device claims to give full coverage of speed traps, including Gatsos and hand-held guns, yet buyers don’t need to pay a monthly subscription.

On our test, it identified the three cameras on our side of the carriageway accurately and loudly. But as it doesn’t have a GPS database, it didn’t pick up a Truvelo unit or the average speed camera section on a motorway.

Chunky buttons make it easy to use, yet the design is bulky, even though it runs off your car’s 12V socket, rather than built-in batteries. Plus, it can be difficult to read the screen, on the rear edge, especially in sunlight

Verdict

Rating: ★★★
What is it?
Dash-top black box which reads the road ahead for cameras and warns you of risky roads.
Problems?
No GPS database, bulky, rear display tricky to use.
Why buy?
Accurate and loud warnings, large buttons, no monthly subscription.
