Mer Super Advanced Shampoo

Price: £5.49 Contact: 01992 512698, www.merproducts.com

Having spent the time washing your car, drying the bodywork can be a chore – so the revised Super Advanced Shampoo from Mer aims to do all the hard work for you.

This is the first product to be revamped since Mer was taken over by car care giant Farécla – and it’s far better at shifting water.

The instructions on  the bottle tell you to use two to three capfuls in a bucket of warm water, but we found a higher concentration was best.

Grime was easily shifted, although you had to work to get a decent foam.

The real benefit of the shampoo was only clear on rinsing – water was beaded away faster than on an untreated panel we prepared for comparison. We barely had any liquid left to leather off.

The downside is that it works out at about 50p a bucket – more than some equally capable rivals.
