Carrera Evolution Morgan set

Price: £99.99 Rating: 4/5

You can’t have missed the news that British marque Morgan is celebrating its 100th anniversary. And to commemorate this milestone, Carrera has released a slot car set with the 2008 Aeromax and the classic Plus 8.

It was clear as soon as we unpacked the box that a lot of time and effort has been put into making the scale models. The kit comes with reinforcing rods, although we found these quite fiddly, as each piece of track required four. However, the instructions were easy to understand, and meant we had the figure of eight track set up in under 20 minutes.

The layout and speed of the cars made for a brilliant race, and the power cable and accelerator triggers were simple to operate. Just expect to have rows over who gets to race the sharper-looking Aeromax!

 * Problems? Fiddly red connectors, low bridge supports, stiff barrier joints.

 * So why buy? Great fun, massive track, detailed cars, good value for money too.
