Medion GoPal P5235

Price: £229.99

If you have a big car, you’ll want a sat-nav with a big screen – and the new Medion GoPal P5235 could be the one to go for.

Five inches of touchable display can be operated with your finger, or the included stylus, which has a handy storage dock in the side of the unit. The Medion also boasts classy looks, with a gloss finish and neat detailing. However, the mount is a bit basic and lets the package down a little. Using the GoPal is simple thanks to the intuitive operating system and clear graphics, but occasionally it reacted to commands slowly.

A variety of display options means that you can tailor the unit to personal preference, and we particularly liked the split screen with a map and graphic instructions. The routing was accurate and proved quick to re-calculate when a wrong turn was taken, although the device sometimes got confused as to our exact position when near tall buildings. When you take into account the price includes an FM transmitter, traffic info and lane indicators, it seems great value for money.

Until 6 August, readers can get £30 off if they buy online by inputting DC5AMN0KYKHDDW8 on the company’s website.

Verdict

 * Rating: 3/5

 * Problems? Occasionally slow software, the design might be too chunky for some

 * So why buy? Big screen, easy to use, accurate routing, good value.
