Mio Navman Spirit sat-navs

Super-skinny sat-nav

Sat-navs used to be bulky, but as with all technology they have slimmed down to barely believable sizes. The latest Mio Navmans are no exception.
The Spirit 500 (pictured) boasts the thinnest casing in the range at only 14mm, while the feature-packed Flat adds only a half a millimetre. Along with the Spirit 300, they have excellent mapping as well as built-in traffic info. They also include Slide Touch software – similar to that found on Apple products – plus an economical routing mode, NavPix photo navigation and 3D junction views with lane guidance.

Even the entry-level Spirit 300 has a 3.5-inch screen, explore mode for browsing local POIs and a walking mode to help guide you to your
destination when you leave the car. Next up is the Spirit 500, with its 4.7-inch screen size and Bluetooth hands-free facility. The range-topping Flat helps keep travellers entertained with its MP3 and video players, as well as an FM transmitter.

Verdict

Mio Navman Spirit 300/Spirit 500/Flat
* Price: Spirit 300 £129.99, Spirit 500 £149.99. Flat £TBC
* Maker’s claim: “Each model performs its tasks with ease and accuracy, and also creates a far richer, safer and more enjoyable travel experience, wherever you choose to explore.”
