Sleek touchscreen is bright and responsive, but means there’s too much glare. Still, the TomTom took three seconds to plan our Glasgow trip, and seven to France. There is no rival feature to the Navigon MyRoutes feature, and the mount isn’t great. It’s not integrated; instead, it grips with a magnet. Garmin’s set-up is better, as you have to screw and unscrew the TomTom mount to secure it. You get Bluetooth, live traffic, safety camera locations and it found our point of interest, plus you can search using Google. But it’s not as complete a package as the cheaper nüvi 1695.
