New Jaguar F-Type SVR: 200mph Jag makes Geneva debut

Stunning Jaguar F-Type SVR gets four-wheel drive, 567bhp and a 200mph top speed. Yours for £110,000.

Jaguar has revealed its scorching F-Type SVR at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The Porsche 911 rival will start from £110,000 for the Coupe and £115,485 for the Convertible – a price hike of nearly £20,000 over the F-Type V8 R AWD. Order books are open now.

The F-Type SVR is the first Jag to be fettled by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations department, and its 567bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 is 25bhp more powerful than the R’s. It also features uprated suspension, a titanium exhaust, ceramic brakes and forged wheels.

Thanks to the powerful V8 with 700Nm of torque, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, the F-Type SVR will go from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and on to an incredible 200mph top speed.

It also has 25bhp more than the F-Type R, the current range-topper, and manages the 0-62mph sprint 0.4 seconds faster. Plus, it comprehensively beats the R's top speed of 186mph.

The F-Type SVR will be available as a Coupe and Convertible, and gets a few aerodynamic upgrades over the standard car. There are new air inlets at the front, along with an upgraded splitter and more vents to allow more air into the new cooling system. The car also gets a revised diffuser, an active rear wing and a flat underfloor for better aerodynamics.

That rear wing can reduce lift by up to 80 per cent, but to reach that impressive 200mph top speed it needs to be lowered to make the car more slippery. The Convertible model won't be able to reach that speed, however, topping out at 194mph.

The wheels are wider and lighter, allowing for bigger tyres to be fitted to improve grip. Carbon-ceramic brakes feature on the SVR to reduce weight by 21kg and are joined by stiffer suspension for better cornering ability. Carbon-ceramic brakes are fitted as well to improve the car's braking ability on track.

In addition, a titanium exhaust system has been fitted, which results in a 12kg weight saving, while also giving the SVR a unique soundtrack – something even the standard F-Type has become famous for.

Inside, there's an updated steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and sports seats with a quilted leather finish. The dashboard features contrast stitching, and the seats are unique to the SVR model.
