Renault Scenic E-Tech: The 100% electric family car
Renault Scenic E-Tech: The 100% electric family car
A new generation of Renault Scenic
The original Renault Scenic of 1997 caused a sensation, capturing the imagination of family car buyers in the 1990s. The second version did much the same in the following decade, as did the third and fourth generations in subsequent years. Now Renault launches the 100% electric Scenic that redefines the family car in the electric age. Majoring on space, comfort and innovative technology, without compromising style, the Scenic E-Tech 100% electric delivers a sustainable design that also includes advanced driver-assistance systems to help you travel more safely. It’s already been awarded the European Car of the Year award for 2024, so read on to learn how Renault has reinvented one of its most iconic models.
The ultimate family car
What constitutes an interior that really works well for families? Inevitably, it’s having enough elbow room. With an extended wheelbase, a flat floor and generous interior dimensions, the Scenic prioritises the comfort and wellbeing of all your family on the move, which means happier people and fewer arguments! The interior’s clever use of different tones and modern, sophisticated design create a welcoming and relaxing place to be, a feeling maximised by the advanced new Solarbay** roof panel. This opacifying panoramic glass roof can even be adjusted via voice control with Google# Built-in.
Naturally, having enough storage is always important, and the Scenic excels with over 38 litres available in numerous locations throughout the cabin, and a generous 545 litres available in the boot. Fold the rear seats flat, and that figure rises to 1,670 litres - more than enough for all the family clutter. Rear seat passengers enjoy their own ingenious centre armrest, which features two swivelling arms, 3.6 litres of storage for smartphones and tablets, fold-out stands to watch screens comfortably, two cupholders and two USB-C ports. The kids will love it!
Range for every family adventure
The Scenic is available with two different battery options to suit different lifestyles. The Comfort Range model uses a 60kWh battery that provides 170hp and up to 260 miles of range*, while the Long Range model uses a 87kWh battery that enables 220hp from the electric motor and up to 379 miles of range*.
Renault is proud of the fact that 89% of the vehicle’s mass is able to be recycled including the battery***, while the seat fabric is made from recycled material. Thanks to its zero emissions rating, the Scenic E-Tech 100% electric qualifies for the 2% BiK tax bracket¶, making it ideal for fleet buyers with a family. After all, bringing up a young family is expensive enough already, without a hefty car tax bill on top.
Style for all the family
Children never forget the car their family had growing up, and with its boldly sculpted front end, featuring the prominent Renault Nouvel’R logo, and new signature headlights, the Scenic creates a dynamic first impression they’ll always remember. The logo sits among an array of superimposed small diamonds, which appear or disappear depending on the light and angle.
Careful consideration has been paid to the vehicle’s aerodynamics, creating not just a sleek design but one that also slips efficiently through the air. This can be seen from the smooth flanks featuring flush fitting door handles, and the aero-inspired alloy wheels. The advanced LED adaptive vision technology adapts the beam pattern to suit the driving conditions, while at the rear the LED lights appear to stretch the entire width of the vehicle in a dynamic arrow effect.
Our most advanced Scenic ever
The world has moved on since I-spy and travel scrabble, and the Scenic’s OpenR Link Multimedia system features Google Built-in with up to 50 apps available from Google Play#, giving you a wealth of information and entertainment on the move. The system is accessed through a 12.3-inch driver information display on the dashboard, joined in an L-shape by a 12-inch vertical central display in the middle of the console.
An optimised journey planner has been specifically developed to take into consideration the location of charging points along a route, and to precondition the battery so that it’s ready to charge upon arrival. Journeys can be planned in advance on the smartphone app and then sent to the car, while other functions can also be accessed remotely, such as the vehicle’s state of charge and preheating the cabin.
Overall safety remains a key priority, and our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) supply up to 30 intelligent active technologies that help to provide extra reassurance on the road. Amongst these, the new motorway and traffic assistant Active Driver Assist‡ combines adaptive cruise control, stop + go and lane centering to adapt to the road, maintaining the vehicle’s positioning in traffic and even stopping and restarting if the traffic slows.
We know family life can often be hectic, so Renault has opted to simplify the buying process, eliminating options and instead making everything standard over three distinct models: techno, esprit Alpine and Iconic. Due to that, even the techno model comes with a vast array of standard equipment, including 19 inch alloy wheels, front and rear LED lighting, automatic air conditioning, front and rear park assist and a rear view camera, an electric tailgate, wireless phone charger and heated front seats and steering wheel. The esprit Alpine trim strikes a more sporty note, with 20 inch alloy wheels, darker sports seats and dynamic blue trim elements. Meanwhile, the iconic model adds an electrically adjusted and massaging driver’s seat, Harmon Kardon sound system, the Solarbay roof and a 360 degree camera.
