Ultimate Aston Martin Vanquish S blasts in with 595bhp V12
New Aston Martin Vanquish S unleashed, with 27bhp power hike, uprated suspension and carbon-fibre add-ons
Aston Martin has introduced a new flagship Vanquish S to the range, with a power boost and a more aggressive look, plus gearbox and suspension revisions. Available in Coupe and Volante bodystyles, it costs from £199,950 – that’s a £6,995 premium over the standard Vanquish. Under the bonnet sits the same naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12, tuned to develop 27bhp more than the regular car, at 595bhp. This helps the Vanquish S shave a tenth of a second from the 0-62mph time, taking it to 3.5 seconds. Top speed remains at 201mph.• Best supercarsWhile the jump in performance isn’t particularly big on paper, Aston promises that the engine delivers a stronger throttle response and power delivery thanks to redesigned and larger inlet manifolds, which push more air into the engine than before.
The engine updates are joined by an improved eight-speed Touchtronic III transmission, which Aston says delivers faster shifts over the standard Vanquish. The suspension set-up has also been tweaked, with altered spring rates, anti-roll bar bushes and damper internals. These mechanical revisions are hidden under a more aggressive-looking Vanquish body with exposed carbon-fibre highlights. At the front, there’s a new splitter with a large, wide air intake, flanked by two carbon-fibre blades. A new rear diffuser finished in carbon fibre also houses a new quad exhaust system.
Adding to the new look there’s an abundance of optional styling tweaks. The new 20-inch five spoke diamond cut wheels can be finished in black or silver, and there’s a host of carbon-fibre finished additions such as bonnet louvres, mirrors, a carbon fibre roof and a new honeycomb mesh grille. Optional Vanquish S graphics can be added to the car in a range of colours, if buyers really want their car to stand out. There are upgraded materials inside, too. Buyers get the option of new ‘Filograph’ quilted leather, and the centre console panel can be finished in satin chopped carbon fibre. First deliveries will take place by the end of December.
