Vauxhall offers price parity for New Frontera Hybrid and Electric models

Whether you choose the new Vauxhall Frontera family SUV with hybrid or all-electric power, you'll pay the same appealing price

Vauxhall Frontera

It’s no exaggeration to say Vauxhall’s New Frontera marks a turning point for consumer choice. It is the first car on sale in the UK to have the same list price whether you choose 100 percent electric or prefer a petrol-fuelled mild hybrid powertrain.

Buyers have previously faced an average price difference of 31 percent between petrol and electric models, forcing drivers to get out their calculators to see which made most sense for them.

But with the New Vauxhall Frontera, you can simply choose the fuel type which suits your lifestyle and forget about the sums. And with prices starting at £23,495 for both powertrains you are assured of excellent value for money, as it’s a family-sized car which costs less to buy and run than some city cars.

Two powertrains – one price

The New Frontera Hybrid combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 21kW electric motor. This is cleverly integrated into a six-speed dual-clutch  automatic gearbox and provides significantly lower CO2 emissions than an equivalent pure petrol engine.

There is no need to plug in the hybrid system’s battery as it is charged by harvesting energy which is normally wasted when slowing down. This power is then fed back through the electric motor to give a boost when accelerating, giving the driver an electric-like experience but without the charging cables.

For drivers who are ready to make the switch to fully electric, the New Frontera is available with an efficient 113hp electric motor, powered by 44kWh battery. This is enough to give an official range of 188 miles (WLTP provisional) between charges, and it can be topped up from 20-80% in just 26 minutes on a suitable charger.

If you want to go further before plugging in, the New Frontera Electric will also be available as a ‘Long Range’ version from early 2025. A bigger battery will allow it to travel up to 248 miles on a single charge (WLTP provisional).

Space for all the family

The New Frontera might be keenly priced, but you get plenty for your money. The rugged and yet thoroughly modern SUV-like body surrounds an interior which is unusually spacious, allowing drivers to live a life without compromise. Measuring 4.38m, the New Frontera is the same length as an Astra hatchback but offers greater boot capacity with the rear seats down than an Astra Sports Tourer Electric – a massive 1,600 litres.

Choose the New Frontera Hybrid and you won’t just benefit from its impressive luggage capacity, - there’s the option to add two more seats, allowing up to seven people to travel in comfort. Whether you are a big family or regularly carry friends, it means you won’t have to take two cars, with a clever ‘fold and tumble’ mechanism providing easy access to the third row.

To keep all the occupants safe and entertained, the New Frontera is packed with technology. The facia features Vauxhall’s stylish ‘Pure Panel’, with two 10-inch screens keeping the driver informed and controlling the standard satellite navigation system. Wireless Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™ and wire-free smartphone charging are part of the package on every model too.

Seat Comfort Technology

Vauxhall has long been at the forefront of seat comfort technology, ensuring the occupants of its cars remain ache-free, even on longer journeys. The New Frontera GS models feature the latest Intelli-Seat innovations, with a specific cushion design for the driver and front passenger. Besides special foams and springing to provide support, the base cushion incorporates a hollow slot that relieves pressure on the tailbone.

Easy charging solutions

Helping to make your electric journey even easier, the new Frontera Electric is available with Vauxhall’s Plug & Go offer, which includes a £500 contribution towards an Octopus Energy Ohme Pro wallbox and installation (worth £975).

Vauxhall has also formed a partnership with Tesco, to provide new Vauxhall EV retail customers with £500 charging credit at stores across the UK, or the option of a £500 roaming charging credit with Octopus Electroverse.

Powered by leading provider PodPoint, Tesco holds 2,700 charging bays across 619 Tesco stores nationwide making it the country’s largest retail electric vehicle charging network, with a mix of 7kW, 22kW, 50kW and 75kW charging stations.

This Partnership comes as part of its Electric Streets of Britain initiative to increase accessible charging solutions for all drivers across the country - directly supporting the 40% of UK households without a driveway to go electric. Vauxhall are working with charge point operators and local councils with the aim to accelerate the installation of on-street residential charging right across the UK.
