New limited-run BMW X5, X6 and X7 special editions unveiled
BMW reveals limited-edition versions of its large SUVs for 2021, with a raft of unique design touches
BMW has shown new special edition versions of its large SUVs, each sporting visual tweaks inside and out. The BMW X5 and X6 are available as Black Vermillion Edition models, while the X7 is offered in Frozen Black Edition guise.
These special editions are exclusively styling exercises, with no mechanical alterations to the cars. Each model features specially chosen interior and exterior design details. Just 50 units of the X5 and X6 Black Vermilion Edition are available, and the X7 Frozen Black Edition is limited to just five cars.
The Black Vermilion Edition brings the more striking look of the two, with flashes of red detailing over Frozen Black metallic paint. The kidney grille bars are finished in red, highlighted by LED illumination, and red brake callipers hide behind matte Orbit Grey 22-inch wheels, exclusive to this special edition. The front and rear aprons have also been tweaked.
Inside, there’s piano black trim, Anthracite Alcantara headlining and ‘Black Vermilion Edition’ script on the cupholder cover. Merino Black leather is offered as standard, with woven red detailing on the seats and red carpet edging. The optional extras available on the standard X5 and X6, such as a Bowers & Wilkins stereo and a panoramic glass roof, can also be had with this special edition.
Changes to the BMW X7 Frozen Black Edition are more subtle. As the name indicates, the car is also finished in Frozen Black metallic, with Y-spoke 22-inch alloys, again finished in matte Orbit Grey. The Frozen Black Edition does away with the red highlights of the Black Vermilion Edition, opting instead for gloss black brake callipers and exterior trim.
There are also few details to mark it out inside. There’s Anthracite Alcantara headlining and BMW’s crystal glass controls, but BMW hasn’t detailed any leather colours or trims specific to the limited-run car. Like the Black Vermilion Edition X5 and X6, the X7 Frozen Black Edition can be had with the same kit as the standard car, which includes massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond stereo.
The X7 Frozen Black Edition is only available in M50i guise, and is available to order now, along with the X5 and X6 Black Vermilion Edition. First deliveries are expected in September this year.
