Dacia UK prices teased

Dacia prices will start from under £7,000 for a Sandero supermini when brand arrives next January

Dacia Duster

Dacia, Renault's budget sub-brand, doesn't officially launch in the UK until January 2013, but it has decided to whet our appetites with a rough pricing structure.

According to sources, the Duster compact SUV will start from "less than £10,000" for front-wheel-drive versions and "less than £12,500" for 4x4 cars. The other model to be available from launch, the Sandero five-door supermini, will start at "less than £7,000."

Dacia's plan is to undercut all of its rivals significantly, and in doing so tempt second-hand buyers into purchasing their first new car. There will be a strict no-discount policy in showrooms though, whether it's a fleet or private sale.

At the Geneva Motor Show, Dacia revealed the Lodgy MPV, which has also been earmarked for sale in the UK. There's no confirmation yet on price or on sale date, but expect the seven-seater to cost from around £9,000 when it arrives later in 2013.

Full details and prices for Dacia's range will be revealed on 28 June.
