New York Motor Show 2015: all the key cars

Cadillac

Cadillac is set to make another return to the UK later in 2015 with a big investment in new models, and one of the most important the brand will be bringing over here will be the CT6 luxury saloon. Making its debut in New York, the Mercedes S-Class rival is expected to be offered with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. We'll have images and details soon.

Honda

Honda Civic concept

Honda has surprised the crowds in New York with the sharp new Civic concept. While the model on show in New York has a coupe bodystyle, the concept previews the design of the next-generation Civic hatch that we'll be seeing in the UK in 2016.

Jaguar

2016 Jaguar XF

Perhaps the most relevant car to the UK at the show, the second-generation XF has been shown in the flesh at New York with styling inspired by the smaller XE compact executive. It gets a slick new cabin with a new generation of comfort, infotainment and safety tech, and a range of four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines providing class-leading efficiency.

Kia

• Kia Optima range

Kia's all-new Optima range is debuting at New York, and was first previewed by the Sportspace concept from Geneva. For the first time an estate version of the Ford Mondeo rival is more than likely to appear, and it'll reach our shores early in 2016. A new longer bodyshell, updated interior and acraft of new safety tech will feature.

Land Rover

 • Range Rover SVAutobiography

Land Rover is taking its luxury SUV to another level at New York, in the form of the flagship SVAutobiography. Costing nearly £150,000, the ultimate Range Rover gets bespoke styling upgrades, impressive interior finishings and a 543bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

Lexus

2015 Lexus RX

Lexus' new RX SUV will arrive in the UK at the end of next year - retaining the distinctive and angular styling cues from the smaller NX crossover, as well as the firm's usual hybrid powertrain. It gets more kit and a more upmarket interior to take the fight to the Range Rover Sport and Mercedes GLE.

Mazda

Mazda MX5 Club Edition

Mazda's MX5 is as fresh as small roadsters come at the moment, with a racier new 'Club Edition' variant joining the range in New York. The Club Edition is said to be the "most aggressive road-going iteration" of the fourth-generation model. The 1.5 and 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engines remain unchanged, but it will get sporty styling additions and tweaks to the chassis.

McLaren

McLaren 570S

McLaren's new entry-level sports car range has been introduced with the all-new 570S. Designed to sit beneath the 650S in the line-up and take on top-end 911s, the 570S is just the beginning of the Sports Series family. A less powerful and more affordable ‘C’ model will follow the ‘S’, with a Spider due after that.

Mercedes

• Mercedes GLE

Mercedes' GLE Coupe was already unveiled at Geneva, but the standard version of the car has appeared in New York. It's a rival for the BMW X5 and the replacement for the outgoing M-Class SUV, and will come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time in the form of the GLE 500e.

Mitsubishi's Outlander mid-size SUV range will be getting a mid-life facelift at New York. Previewed by the PHEV Concept S at the Paris show, it'll embrace plug-in hybrid technology and build on the success of the current PHEV with an updated powertrain.

Porsche

• Porsche Boxster Spyder

Porsche have shipped over a new model from Stuttgart to wow the crowds. The Porsche Boxster Spyder is the fastest ever Boxster the firm has produced, with 370bhp from a 911-sourced 3.8-litre flat six. It also gets revised bodywork and comprehensive weight-saving measures.

Subaru

Subaru STi Performance Concept

Subaru has pulled the wraps off the STi Performance Concept in New York. Based on the BRZ but with upgrades to produce nearly 450bhp, it's unlikely to go into production. But it acts as a showcase the capabilities of the STi brand and how the technology being shown can filter through the rest of Subaru's range in the near future.

Toyota

Toyota RAV4 hybrid

Toyota revealed last week it plans to introduce a hybrid version of the Toyota RAV4 for the first time at New York. This will debut alongside the rest of the facelifted range for 2016, and is likely to feature an adapted all-wheel drive powertrain from the Auris and Prius plug-in hybrid.

Volkswagen

VW Beetle concepts

VW has gone the extra mile by revealing not one but four concepts, although they're not strictly new cars. A sporty R-Line version of the Beetle will feature on their show stand alongside Denim, Pink and Wave editions which increase the scope for personalisation.
