Dacia Sandero Stepway gains new petrol and diesel engines

Dacia adds its entry-level SCe 75 petrol and Blue dCi 95 diesel engines to the Sandero Stepway range

Dacia has added two new engines to the Sandero Stepway line-up. A slightly more rugged crossover version of the Sandero supermini, the  Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, the Hyundai ix20 rival gains a 1.0-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine and a 94bhp Blue dCi diesel.

Available now, the SCe 75 petrol model offers 74bhp and 95Nm of torque. It takes 16.7 seconds to cover the 0-62mph ‘sprint’, and tops out at 97mph. It’s only available in Essential trim, with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive, with prices starting at £8,995.

It’s reasonably frugal, managing economy figures of between 43.5mpg and 45.6mpg under the WLTP regime, whilst emissions ratings of 124g/km of CO2 mean the Sandero Stepway SCe 75’s first road tax payment will cost £165.

Essential trim models feature air-conditioning, electric front windows, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, body coloured bumpers and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Also now available for the Sandero Stepway is Dacia’s Blue dCi 95 turbo diesel, with 94bhp and 220Nm of torque. Prices start from £11,595 for the base-model Essential trim and climb to £12,595 for the range-topping Comfort trim.

Comfort-spec models add a 7-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, cruise control, electric rear windows and electrically operated, heated door mirrors.

The new dCi 95 diesel is also only available with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. It will accelerate from 0-62mph in 12.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 111mph. Fuel economy is between 58.8mpg and 62.7mpg, while emissions stand at 103g/km of CO2. Initial road licensing, therefore, will only cost £145.
