Ford Focus ST Mountune review - pictures

Ford's Focus ST has been given a performance hit by tuning experts Mountune.

The Moutune upgrades slot neatly between the standard Focus ST and the upcoming Focus RS.

Inside, the Focus ST Mountune is typical Ford, with only some discreet Mountune badging to differentiate it from the standard ST.

Mountune's upgrades add 24bhp and 40nm of torque, bringing the Focus ST up to 271bhp and 400nm.

The light and precise six-speed manual matches perfectly with the driving experience.

Practicality is unchanged from the ST, but the bulkier Recaro bucket seats limit rear legroom compared to the regular Focus hatch.

It's a shame that the sheer amount of power on offer can corrupt the chassis and result in torque steer.

The steering is sharp and the suspension firm, leading to excellent handling.

Mountune's big bodykit and decals are optional.

The Mountune upgrades are available directly from Ford and don't invalidate the standard warranty.

At only £1,195, the Mountune upgrade kit is good value for anybody wanting more performance without waiting for the RS.
