New Hyundai tech lets you use smartphone apps on the move
Hyundai's new Display Audio system with Carplay and Android Auto integrated will appear in new models by 2016
Hyundai has announced it will unveil its new smartphone-integrated Display Audio system at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. The Korean brand is one of a small but growing number of car firms to bring the Apple Carplay tech to market and the system is expected to appear in the model range by 2016.
The system features a seven-inch touchscreen display that has been optimised for use with Apple and Android smartphones via USB. There's no traditional navigation system installed, instead the use of Carplay and Android Auto allows full use of your smartphone's features, such as access to contacts, music, navigation, messaging and various apps such as Apple's 'Siri' voice control.
User can request songs, traffic information and even sports scores and film times just by talking to the system. Another addition is Hyundai's new Blue Link, which uses a 4G connection and allows customers to remotely start their car, activate the climate control, produce a monthly vehicle health report and even locate and recover stolen vehicles.
The Korean firm is yet to confirm which UK models will first receive the technology, but with 19 more new or updated models due by 2017 the bulk of the model range is expected to be made available with the system.
