The Jaguar XF is a strong opponent for its German exec rivals. Although the smallest 2.2-litre diesel is not the cleanest or quietest engine around, it’s a decent performer thanks in part to the eight-speed box, while its smoothness suits the Jag’s refined and comfortable character.

There are two offers on the Luxury, which has leather, sat-nav and xenons. Pay either a £6,999 deposit and £349 for 36 months, or a £2,701 deposit and £499 over the same period. Both include a £3,424 dealer deposit contribution and 4.9 per cent APR interest rate.
