Jeep Renegades special editions set for LA Motor Show

Jeep has revealed the Renegade Deserthawk and Altitude - two limited edition SUVs for the Los Angeles Motor Show

Jeep has announced two new versions of its Renegade small SUV will be on show at next week’s Los Angeles Motor Show. The Renegade Deserthawk and Renegade Altitude are limited edition models rather than all-new trim levels, and both will go on sale in the United States soon.

The Deserthawk is presented as being a rugged, off-road ready version of Jeep’s crossover. It’s more or less a US spec version of the Rengade Desert Hawk from the Paris Motor Show, and it’s based on the 4x4 Trailhawk model. It keeps that car’s 4x4 system and off-roading technology, but with an extra driving setup – Rock mode.

The Deserthawk also adds exclusive styling details, and is offered with unique ‘Majove Sand’ colour paint, 17” alloy wheels finished in black, plus Deserthawk decals on the bonnet and rear panels.

There’s a unique interior too, including black leather seats with frost contrast stitching, and rugged all-weather floor mats. Unlike the European Desert Hawk it gets petrol power, using a 2.4-litre MultiAir 2 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll be on sale in the United States this January, priced from $28,140.

Joining the Deserthawk is the Renegade Altitude, which is based on the Latitude model. Like other Altitude special edition Jeeps it gets a blacked out look, with the addition of large 18” black wheels and gloss black finishing on the badges, grille rings, and rear lights.

Inside there’s black cloth seats, and the same gloss black finish is applied to some of the interior trims, alongside metal accents. The Altitude gets two engine options – the same 2.4-litre with nine-speed auto is available, alongside a 1.4-litre with a six-speed manual.

It’ll be front-wheel-drive as standard, but all-wheel-drive can be equipped as an optional extra. Jeep will put it on sale in the US later this month from $22,390. Jeep is pretty fond of making special edition cars, but there’s no word on whether we’ll see these two on sale in the UK just yet.

Will we see the Deserthawk and the Altitude in the UK? Tell us your thoughts below…
