Facelifted Kia Sorento arrives at the Frankfurt Motor Show
The Kia Sorento SUV has been refreshed, bringing exterior and interior updates and the addition of a new GT Line trim
Kia has revealed an updated version of its Sorento SUV, which has debuted at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The minor facelift brings reshaped front and rear bumpers, plus new LED headlamps and tail lamps. A darkened version of Kia’s Tiger nose grille and new alloy wheel designs have also been added.
In addition, a new GT Line specification has been introduced which sits at the top of the Sorento range. The changes it brings are purely cosmetic and adds features such as four-lamp LED fog lights, red brake callipers, a more prominent sill step, and GT Line badging.
All models benefit from changes inside where a new steering wheel, updated instrument cluster and revised 8.0-inch navigation system appear. Kia also says it has added new soft touch materials around the cabin to add a more ‘premium’ feel. GT Line models feature quilted black leather seats.
Like before the only engine on offer remains the 197bhp 2.2-litre diesel but it is now available with the option of a new eight-speed automatic gearbox – a first for Kia. It replaces the old six-speed auto and helps reduce CO2 emissions from 172g/km to 159g/km. A six-speed manual gearbox remains available.
Other tech added to the updated Sorento includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a Driver Attention Warning system helps to prevent drivers falling asleep at the wheel.
