New Land Rover Discovery Sport 7-seater confirmed
Land Rover Discovery Sport to be offered with seven seats as standard in the UK
More details on the forthcoming Land Rover Discovery Sport have been revealed, with Land Rover announcing the compact SUV will come with a 5+2 seating arrangement as standard in the UK.
Alongside the model update, Land Rover has also given us our best look yet at the Discovery Sport. Clad in a new skeleton camouflage, the exterior wrap peels back giving us a glimpse as to what we can expect to see inside the Discovery Sport. From what we can make out, the two rear-most seats appear slightly smaller than the middle row but will tumble into the boot floor to increase luggage capacity.
The move to make the Discovery Sport a 5+2 as standard will help Land Rover compete in an increasingly competitive market. Rivals such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan don’t offer customers the option of a third row of seats.
We’ll get our first glimpse of the Discovery Sport in its own skin at the Paris Motor Show in September, ahead of going on sale in 2015. We already know the compact SUV will be available with a range of new and advanced diesel engines as part of the Ingenium family, but the 2.2-litre diesel in the current Freelander will be the only offering from launch.
