First look at Lexus GS F super-saloon
Lexus' BMW M5 rival will be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show next year, but for now here are some official teaser shots
This is our first look at the hot Lexus GS F saloon, ahead of the car's first public appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January. Set to bring the fight to the Audi RS6 and BMW M5, the GS F will get around 500bhp from a 5.0-litre V8 first seen in the RC F coupe.
Although these images only reveal small sections of the front end of the car, it's clear the GS F gets a much more aggressive look. It looks so different that we expect to see toned-down changes to the rest of the model range in 2015.
There's a much larger front air intake, like the one seen on the RC F and new NX SUV, covered in chrome mesh and surrounded by carbon-fibre trim. A completely new headlamp design also features, likely with a full-LED setup with daytime running lights underneath.
The huge multi-spoke alloy wheels will be exclusive to the GS F, covering the much larger performance brakes fitted to this model.
We spotted the GS F testing earlier in the year with deeper side skirts and a new rear bumper, shrouding the traditional angled quad-exhaust system of fast Lexus models.
Technical details are unconfirmed as yet, but the GS F should get a large proportion of tech and mechanical tweaks carried over from the RC F, albeit beefed up to cope with the larger saloon's extra weight. That 5.0 litre V8 is likely to get an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
We expect to see the GS F in priced at around £80,000. Further details will emerge at the car's Detroit unveiling in January 2015.
