Lexus RX 450h
The Lexus RX was the first premium hybrid 4x4 to be offered in the UK when it arrived in 2005, and like its Audi Q7 and BMW X5 rivals, it has become a familiar sight.
To keep its flagship SUV model up-to-date, Lexus has introduced a new Advance trim to the RX 450h range, offering new 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and LED lights as standard kit.
Under the edgy bodywork remains Lexus’ second-generation Hybrid drive system, featuring a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and two electric motors developing a combined 295bhp.
The powertrain on the Lexus RX 450h Advance is accomplished, but not as efficient as you might think. The claimed fuel economy of 44.8mpg is unrealistic – we struggled to return more than 27mpg. On the plus side, CO2 emissions of 145g/km mean the RX 450h is one of the cleanest 4x4s on sale, and among the cheapest for company car buyers.
