Limited edition Lotus Exige Cup 430 Type 25 revealed

The Lotus Exige Cup 430 Type 25 adds unique design tweaks and a new livery inspired by the brand's Type 25 Formula 1 car

Another special edition Lotus has been revealed, this time a limited production version of the Exige Cup 430, called the Type 25. It’s a celebration of the Type 25 Formula 1 car – the most successful racer ever produced by the Norfolk firm, winning 14 Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, two Drivers’ Championships and two Constructors’ Championships. Just 25 will be produced, each priced at £110,000.

Mechanically, this special edition Exige remains unchanged from the base 430 car. That means a 430bhp supercharged 3.5-litre V6 sits in the middle, sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. 0-62mph is claimed in 3.3 seconds, while Lotus clocks the top speed at 180mph.

What sets the Type 25 apart from the regular Exige Cup 430 is the unique design tweaks inspired by the sixties racer. The livery is inspired by the Formula One car, with bright yellow highlights contrasting with the metallic Lotus Racing Green paintwork. A white scheme is offered as an alternative.

Inside, the makeover continues with the addition of a wooden gearknob, linked to an old-school open-gate transmission. The seats receive a custom Alcantara trim, while bodywork coloured insert panels for the seats, transmission console, HVAC surround and window switches contrast with anodised aluminium and carbon fibre trim elements.

A numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales will accompany each of the 25 examples produced, and each car will wear an interior plaque detailing its number in the production run.
