Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster: prices announced for 577bhp droptop
The range topping Mercedes-AMG GT R convertible will arrive in the UK this autumn, with prices starting from £178,675
Mercedes-AMG has confirmed pricing information for its new GT R Roadster. The new model will arrive in the UK this autumn, featuring the same performance upgrades as the coupe, as well as a new set of lightweight alloys and an electronically folding fabric roof. Global production is limited to 750 units, with prices starting from £178,675.
It’s powered by the same turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine as the coupe, producing 577bhp and 700Nm of torque. Performance is fed through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels, with Mercedes claiming a 0–62mph time of 3.6 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 197mph.

As standard, the AMG GT R Roadster comes with active engine mounts, an electronically controlled locking differential, lowered suspension with active dampers, active rear-wheel steering and a carbon fibre tunnel brace to increase structural rigidity. Like the coupe, it also comes with underfloor active aero panels, which channel air towards the rear diffuser. A ceramic composite braking system is available as a £5,995 option.
Styling revisions over the standard GT Roadster include a manually-adjustable front splitter with active cooling louvres, a new rear diffuser, lower side skirts, yellow brake calipers and a larger rear spoiler. It also comes with a set of staggered alloys, tucked under wider carbon fibre wheel arches, with 19-inch wheels for the front axle and 20-inch wheels for the rear.
Inside, the GT R Roadster comes as standard with a pair of heavily-bolstered Nappa leather trimmed sports seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument binnacle, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, an AMG-branded steering wheel and a premium Burmester sound system. LED headlights with adaptive highbeam assist and blind spot assist are also standard.
Unlike on lower-spec models, Mercedes’s neck-level “airscarf” heading system is standard fitment on the GT R Roadster, as is the AMG Interior Night package and the AMG matte carbon fibre package. These two option packs add black trim for the air vents and dashboard, and carbon fibre trim for the centre console and treadplates.
