Mercedes GL prices

Mercedes has announced prices and specs for the new GL-Class, which starts from £59,465

Mercedes has released prices for the new GL-Class, with the range starting from £59,465 for the GL350 AMG Sport diesel. The only other model on offer is the 549bhp GL63 AMG, which carries a price-tag of £91,860.

The new seven-seater starts production in January 2013 and measures in at 21mm longer than the model it replaces. It’s more fuel-efficient, too, with the GL350 claiming 35.3mpg, which is a 15 per cent improvement. But with 254bhp on offer, it manages to accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.

The GL350 AMG Sport is also a bit more generously equipped than the old car, with LED daytime running lights, 21-inch alloys, self-parking and DAB digital radio. Two new colours – Cavansite Blue and Cinnabar Red – are also available.

Meanwhile, the GL63 AMG – a new addition to the range – gets an AMG steering wheel featuring paddle-shifters and seats that are electronically adjustable, heated and fitted with a massage function.

The 549bhp GL63 can only manage a meagre 23.0mpg but promises 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, which isn’t far off a Porsche 911.
