Mercedes S-Class Coupe Night Edition revealed for Detroit show
Special edition luxury coupes get dark styling tweaks to stand out from the crowd
Mercedes has taken the wraps off a new special edition S-Class Coupe which will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Called the Mercedes S-Class Coupe Night Edition, it boasts premium upgrades with distinctive dark accents and finishes on the exterior and in the cabin.
At the front it gets a unique radiator grille, with a single louvre finished in a high gloss black. It rides on 20-inch AMG alloy wheels too, also finished in black but with an eye-catching shiny rim flange. Joining the blacked out grille and wheels, the wing mirrors and the inserts in the side skits also get the tinted treatment.
These changes are only subtle, so the Night Edition cars get the addition of a sporty AMG bodykit too, to make them stand out further. The matt grey paint Mercedes has teased the car in is an optional extra though.
Inside, the S-Class Coupe Night Edition gets illuminated door sills. Leather, Nappa leather and AMG leather upholstered interiors in a range of colours are available, though the interior gets Night Edition tweaks in the form of high-gloss finish black wood inserts and trim, and the Night Edition name is engraved on the insert of the steering wheel.
Interestingly, the tweaks aren’t limited to just one model. The 362bhp S400 4Matic Coupe will get the package, but Mercedes doesn’t offer this model in the UK. Instead we’ll be seeing the Night Edition upgrades on the 449bhp, V8 powered S500 Coupe. Mercedes hasn’t announced how much extra the Night Edition kit will cost, but we’re sure to hear more at the Detroit Auto Show next month.
