Bentley 4x4 engines announced
British firm Bentley has revealed the engine range it's considering for its new 4x4
Engines for the Bentley 4x4 concept have been announced at the Beijing Motor Show in China, which is Bentley's biggest market. The new 4x4 will offer three engines, headed by the 6.0-litre W12 from the Continental GT. It will make 600bhp and deliver 800Nm through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The striking Bentley will also use a 500bhp version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that debuted in the Continental GT V8 and is also used in the Audi S6/S7. On the efficiency side, a V6 plug-in Hybrid will be offered, and while Bentley hasn’t spoken about the Hybrid’s power, it says that it’s targeting a CO2 output of 130g/km yet still deliver a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds.
While the 4x4 hasn't been confirmed for production, Bentley says that these three drivetrains are merely being ‘actively considered’.
The Bentley 4x4 was revealed at the Geneva show in March. It could be in showrooms by 2015 priced from £140,000.
