2,199bhp DEUS Vayanne hypercar unveiled with Williams Advanced Engineering tech

A new player has emerged to compete in the electric hypercar battleground, with Viennese brand DEUS revealing the Vayanne: a 2,199bhp, luxury-orientated powerhouse designed using expertise from Williams Advanced Engineering and Italdesign. 

The new model has been shown at the New York International Auto Show in concept form, although DEUS claims that the show car gives a strong hint at the final design, which will reach customers in 2025.

Given the car’s colossal power output, DEUS is aiming for a 0-62mph time of less than two seconds for the Vayanne, and a top speed in excess of 248mph. If these searing performance predictions are met for the production version, the Vayanne will outgun the Lotus Evija, but the Rimac Nevera will still be the world’s most accelerative hypercar.

DEUS has partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering and Italdesign for technical support to create the Vayanne. It will utilise the British firm’s electric powertrain and production expertise, while drawing from Italdesign’s styling and engineering nouse for the new car.

The Vayanne’s signature design detail is what DEUS calls the ‘infinity loop’, the wide, rounded front and rear grilles which swell at the outer extremes. The front end adopts a set of slender headlights, with a steeply raked windscreen blending into a black contrast roof. There’s a pair of cooling vents along the flanks and a rear light strip that traces around the entirety of the infinity loop grille.

Although it will offer rapid performance, the Vayanne has also been designed with usability in mind. According to DEUS, it’ll be geared towards daily use with a supple ride, reasonable ground clearance and plenty of storage space.

To that end, the Vayanne’s interior is well appointed rather than a stripped back, racy affair. It features ambient lighting, a digital instrument panel and environmentally friendly materials, along with what DEUS calls a ‘Halo Infinity’ mirror surface on the doors, which carries through to the dashboard. 

There’s also a large central infotainment display and, as with many other electric performance cars, the DEUS will be fitted with a configurable driving sound generator. The newcomer will be limited to just 99 units when the production version arrives, with first customer deliveries projected for 2025.
