Used Porsche 911 (997, 2004-2013) review
The Porsche 911 997 can be had second-hand from £20,000, here's everything you need to know when buying a used Porsche
How much?
Look hard and you’ll find the odd 75,000-mile Carrera for just under £20,000. This’ll be a private sale, though; traders typically pitch their Carrera and Carrera S models from £22,000. The cheapest Turbos cost £40,000 from a trader, while you’ll need at least £52,000 for a hardcore GT3 – we couldn’t find a GT3 RS for less than £75,000. Cabriolets carry a premium of around £4,000-£6,000 over coupés, while a PDK gearbox adds around £2,000. Tiptronic cars are generally worth the same as manuals.

All 997s need a service every two years or 20,000 miles. Expect to pay £480-£610 for a Carrera, £550-£1,250 for a Turbo and £1,300-£1,550 for a GT2 or GT3. All engines are chain-driven, so there are no timing belts to replace, but fresh brake fluid is needed every two years, at £150.
Independent specialists can shave a third off these fees. Two Plus Two (www.twoplustwo.ltd.uk), based in Brierley Hill, W Mids, charges £400 for a major service on a Carrera, and while most Turbos and GT3s stay within the dealer network, a full service would run to £800-£900.
